Pitched anthem for state’s rebrand

Native Americans ripped from their homelands. Poor, white settlers stealing and scraping to survive. The Trail of Tears. The Great Depression. The Dust Bowl. Tornado Alley. 

Oklahoma was never an oasis. It was a last resort. 

But the strong, those who put down the deepest roots, withstood the storms. And this patchwork of a community began stitching itself together with post oak and barbed wire, grit and calloused hands.

We were the rough and the ready. 

Too isolated to be lazy, we learned to do things for ourselves. Too many hardships to live alone, we learned to be neighborly. Too different to be familiar, we became a family anyway.

We grow them strong in Oklahoma. And anyone willing to dig a little deeper is welcome to grow here, too. For here is where the true, natural, wild beating heart of America lies – just a few extra inches below the surface. 

Come, plant deep roots, and watch what grows.
